i was born with 3 teeth that were pulled out at age 5 my nephew was born with 2 teeth that he later had pulled out to.
both times the dr told my mom and sister they were milk teeth that would fall out but that was not the case...
do you think its genetic ? can i pass this onto my baby?
will i have to suffer the same biting breastfeeding my mom did?
Will this be passed on to my baby?
It is genetic and the baby's got a 50/50 chance of having it. You won't know it until he/she's born!
Reply:OUCH i think it is genetic but that dosen't neccesarily mean ur baby will have it to you'll know soon enouph, (how cute is that tho a lil baby with teeth ahh)
Reply:My father was born without and adult tooth... meaning his baby tooth came in, but once that fell out, there was no adult tooth to come in... he had to get a fake tooth.
I have the same problem...
So my guess is yes, this is a genetic type of a problem, so you have that chance.
But don't worry about babies biting while breastfeeding... mom's feed babies with teeth all the time... sucking doesn't involve the teeth.
Reply:i think with the advances in dentistry your baby will not need to loose any teeth, my son had a tooth in front that lost some enamel due to nursing all night long, and the dentist just filled it looks fine and he's 6 and hasn't lost it.
Reply:Deciduous teeth which is the medical term isnt passed down from genetics.
