What can I do to relieve the pain until I get into the Dr. to schedule to have them removed?

Best thing is advil or tylenol, not much you can do until they are removed. Its no fun trust me I know from experience but you will feel a whole lot better after you may look like a chipmunk for a couple of days but that will go away with time.
