I have a 13 month old and he only has 6th teeth?

I have a 13 month old and he only has 6 teeth and has been that way since he was like 9months old. My cousins baby has 12 teeth, is it %26quot;OK%26quot; for him to have only 6 teeth, he shows no signs of getting new ones any time soon...I will ask his Dr. at the next appt. but just wondering now...

I have a 13 month old and he only has 6th teeth?
No worries Danielle. My son did the exact same thing. It took him forever to even get any teeth and then they took their time coming in. His pediatrician told me he had %26quot;tough%26quot; gums. This makes it harder for the teeth to come through. Teething was tougher on him as well.

Then - believe it or not - he was the FIRST to lose all his teeth. In Kinder he was the only one to lose his front teeth before Christmas and I was worried because it took him so long to even get teeth! lol

Both his doctor and dentist (You should take your child to a dentist starting at 2 years of age) told me the exact same thing. Every child is different. They will grow and lose teeth when they are supposed to. They stressed that I do not worry and sure enough my son is now 8 1/2 and everything is just fine. He has beautiful teeth and has only had one cavity in almost 9 years because he goes to his dentist regularly and takes good care of them.

You are always right in asking your doctor/dentist anyhow. They are the experts and it is always better to be safe than sorry. I am sure there is nothing to worry about, but at least you%26#039;re a good and concerned mom - your little one is a lucky guy. =)

Peace to you ...

Reply:Yes, very normal.

My 16 month old has 14 teeth, and is currently cutting the 15th and 16th. His 15.5 month old cousin just cut her 8th tooth...both are normal.

They come when they come...
Reply:Dont worry babys teeth grow at diffrent rates...

his will come in soon. just contact your physician if he is like 5 with only still 6 teeth in his mouth!
Reply:No worries! Your babys teeth will all come in. its normal. My little girl only had 3 teeth for quite awhile. then all the sudden Bam, they all came in at once. A tip is to give your little one frozen teething rings, it does wonders to ease the pain of teething and helps the teeth push through. Dont worry mama your baby is just fine!
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry. Teeth come in at different rates for different children. The good news for you is that my pediatrician told me that the longer it takes them to come in, the stronger they are.
Reply:My daughter cut her first tooth at 13 months!

She%26#039;s 22 now and has a full set of beautiful teeth.

Don%26#039;t worry, babies get their teeth at different times. It%26#039;s normal.
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry. Some babies don%26#039;t even have a single tooth until after their first birthday.
Reply:yes very normal... My 13 mo old only has 4, two up top and two bottom...
Reply:Its normal. Both my girls didnt get teeth until after they were 12 months old. All kids develop at their own pace.
Reply:My 13 month old just got her 3rd tooth. I think my older daughter only had like 3 or 4 teeth at 13 months old. I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s anything to be concerned about. Actually there is an old wivestale that says that the later a child teeths, the healthier their teeth will be. I hope this is true because my girls will have some healthy teeth.
Reply:yea hes fine
