My son is 18 months old and he had shots on Friday. Before Friday he had a runny nose but it was clear. Friday he was feeling bad and I gave him tylenol because I thought it was from shots. His nose started running yesterday and it was like a yellow greenish color. He has had a little cough. You can tell he doesnt feel good. This morning he got up and I gave him his tylenol and he just laid his head down on my chest until my grandmother brung us some breakfast. He got up and went to the table and right now is still eating his biscuit. He has no fever. He has been cutting his back teeth. Also his chest feels like sometimes it is rattling and other times like it is not. I called his dr and he has yet to return my phone calls. And I am just wondering if I should wait till tomorrow and take him in or take him to the urgent care place here in town?
18 month old is sick and debating rather or not to wait to go to dr tomorrow or urgent care today!!!?
check his nail bed if they seem grey or bluish this could be a sign of pnemoia where he is not getting the proper amount of oxygen my son who has asthma usually ends up like this and has top have albueterol breathing treatments. Don%26#039;t wait go today and make sure you bring him to the dr tomarrow if he is not improving with a chest rattle you can never be too careful. Good lUck and I hope he feels better real soon.
Reply:As long as he doesn%26#039;t have a fever you should be ok. If his fever reaches 104, then you need to rush him to urgent care. If he just had shots, you should alternate tylenol and motrin. He will be alright. He is just a little down, but should be fine. Especially since he is able to eat. Give him lots of fluids.
If you decide to take him to urgent care, all they will do is take his temp. give him tylenol and send him home. Plus, you sat in the waiting room for hours just to get this done.
If he is having greenish mucus, he could have contracted an ear infection which can be treated by your doctor when you see him.
Let me stress again, NO need to go.
Reply:Well i think u should wait till tomorrow i have a 10 month old and she was like that and we had a Dr appointment in 2 days and she was just fine. hope he feels better good luck
Reply:go. i have 3 kids. what is the harm.
he may be having a reaction from the shot
Reply:Most likely he just needs to rest and drink his liquids.
I%26#039;d ask your grandmother since she%26#039;s right there with you to see his symptoms. I%26#039;m sure she%26#039;s had a lot of experience in dealing with sick children.
Reply:Don%26#039;t they always get sick at night %26amp; on weekends?
This is one of those %26quot;danged if you do, danged if you don%26#039;t%26quot; situations where it%26#039;s probably best to be safe rather than sorry.
If you take him to the clinic today, it will probably be something minor (reaction to shots, teething) and you will wish you%26#039;d waited, BUT
On the other hand, you will have to go all through today and tonight worried if you wait %26amp; then it will depend on how soon the Doc can see him and if it is something more serious you will be upset with yourself plus the Dr. will probably give you a guilt trip for letting it go so long.
So, if I were you, I%26#039;d probably break down %26amp; take him now.
If you%26#039;re like me, his symptoms will probably start to subside by the time you get in the car and when they see you at the clinic he will be bouncing all around and acting like nothing is wrong with him--can%26#039;t tell you how many times my kids did that to me!
Welcome to the joys of motherhood--good luck and hope he is better soon!
Reply:Well, me and my mother read your question. We both agree that there is no urgency in the matter. We are concerned about the color of the mucus coming from his nose. It might suggest he has a sinus infection. But as long as he is not vomitting and doesn%26#039;t have a fever you are ok. The only time my daughter had yellow greenish stuff coming from her nose was when she had pneumonia but she had a fever and vomitting along with it. I would wait to go to the doctor tomorrow. No need for emergency care. Now ofcourse if he does start to vomit and seems to be getting hot, (feverish) then take him to emergency care. I have a 2 year old and my mom had us 3, I%26#039;m 22, my sisters are 17 and 13 so she%26#039;s been through the ropes. LOL. Hope this helps
Reply:I%26#039;d take the little guy to urgent care and when I got home put him to bed for a couple hours and give him lots of love
Reply:If you are a loving parent, and if you care about the health and well being of this child, there should be no question in your mind about the necessity to bring this child to a person who can knowledgeably make decisions on what to do, when and how, rather than asking self appointed %26quot;Experts%26quot; in this forum. Do you place responsibility for your childs care to people sitting around answering questions or do you know what you should do as a responsible parent. Were it my child I would not waste time asking wuestions of untrained people. I would be at the hospital.
Reply:he is so young!just go to the doctor.
