OK I have had a bad pain in my right jaw. I've been to two dentist, and two Dr. The one dentist says get my

bottom teeth in the front pulled out, even though the teeth are not bad, nor do they have anything wrong with them ..I don't want to get my teeth pulled out. Another Dentist said nothing was wrong with my teeth. But he's not a tmj specialist. The Tmj specialist want me to get my front bottom teeth pulled. I am in constant pain. And I can't seem to get help from anyone.

I've got TMJ issues too... talk to ANOTHER doctor girl! It sucks to be in pain! i was taking so many pain killers for my jaw that the meds gave me an ulcer! Hopefully that doesn't happen to you!
Reply:So you have already decided that it is tmj? Then see a specialist.
Reply:I don't know a lot about TMJ, but I don't think having healthy teeth pulled is ever a good idea. Usually they prescribe some sort of brace or mouthpiece to keep your jaws slightly separated. I would seek more opinions.
Reply:It probably is TMJ, do you also get a popping noise in that jaw and does it "lock" sometimes? There is no cure for it as far as I know, but there are remedies such as jaw exercises you can do to help relieve the pain. Also, use some pain meds. And of course, I would find a new doctor, these two you mentioned don't seem to be the best. Best of luck!
Reply:Is it one of those things that you don't have room for all your teeth even after your wisdom teeth are out? You didn't mention whether you've already had your wisdom teeth removed. I'd get yet another opinion. I've had tmj and had to get a splint to wear at night and it really helped. Also make sure you don't have any abcesses. There won't be anything wrong w/ your teeth on the outside, but that can cause really terrible jaw pain too.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!
Reply:i have TMJ really bad and the pain is severe what i recommend is taking something to bring the swelling down and put a warm compress on it. Also go see a orthodontist braces can correct the problem some of the time. Or you might grinned your teeth at night and need a mouth gaurd you can buy one from the store or ask a dentist about it.
Reply:Ask your dentist if he can pull your wisdom teeth or a couple back teeth instead. I have never heard of a dentist wanting to pull your front teeth especially if there is nothing wrong with them. I had pain in my jaw as well and my dentist pulled some back teeth and the pain went away. No one knows that my back teeth are missing but me.
