I went to the Dr. and she said I need to lose weight. I'm a big girl. I have been most of my life.?

I'm 22 now and extremely depressed. My problem isn't my depression tho. My problem is this :: Whats the point?? My mom was a big girl. Not as big as me. She fought for the last 10 years to be what everyone says she should weigh. Starving herself, denying her favorite foods, eating plain dual stuff. Then when she was 46 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and b4 she was done she was as thin as a tooth pick and she had to drink weigh GAINING drinks. So my logic is this, either way I'm screwed. I can work my bumm off to be healthy then get sick and die. I don't know what my question is. I'm just so confused. Any input?

I went to the Dr. and she said I need to lose weight. I'm a big girl. I have been most of my life.?
Its not about your weight in pounds, its about your health. You don't have to kill yourself to be healthy. Just eat right, choose a healthy lifestyle (no drugs, don't smoke, etc) %26amp; get some exercise, like taking a daily walk. No one said you have to spend 3 hours a day in the gym. Good Luck.

Reply:If you are not having any adverse health effects from your weight, i.e. diabetes or prediabetes, blood pressure problems, etc., then be happy with what you weigh. If you are, you absolutely must do something about it.
Reply:i strongly recommend for you not to starve yourself, because that may lead to other health issues later on in your life. if u can, just cut down on your food intake and exercise at least every other day. and just because that happened to your mom doesn't precisely mean dat it's destined to happen to you. all i'm saying is, just give it a try and don't give up so easily.
Reply:Just forget about weight and do your best to be healthy. Focusing on your health will probably lead you to lose weight anyway, but focusing on denying yourself things you enjoy will just lead to resentment and depression and eventual weight GAIN, definitely not what you want. I'm sorry that your mom had breast cancer but that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll get it. Even if you were to be diagnosed with it at some point, you'd want to be in the best of health otherwise so that you can handle the treatment.

I think that the best thing for you to do would be to eat healthy food, live a healthy lifestyle including physical activity that you enjoy, and have the focus stay on health, not on numbers on a scale. Once you get used to loving your body and treating it well with a healthy lifestyle and good food you will feel better all over and life will be better all around.
Reply:girl ive been big all mi life!!! im personally not happy with myself!! but... if your happy w/ urself u dnt need to lose anything as ,long as ur healthy and dnt eat the greasiest foods!! i mean it dnt matter and ur weight wont predict wen u die! so no matter whether ur overwieht or skinny u will die so juss be happy as long as u are alive!!!!!

Reply:If the doctor said you need to lose weight, then that's what you need to do. You don't need to worry about losing weight, what you need to do is worry about changing your bad habits and working on leading a healthier lifestyle. Exercise, eat healthy, stay active, keep positive and be happy! Everything else will fall into place.
