I've just adopted a siamese lynx point mix and last night, he bit me so hard that I have to see a dr.?

The "attack" was unprovoked. I had just laid down in bed. Once he had his teeth in me, I tried to get away by moving my hand to under my blanket, screaming for my husband, who had to remove his teeth from my hand. I have 4 puncture wounds and a bad additional wound from when I moved my hand. Is this normal siamese behavior? I don't know what he was trying to tell me. He had just jumped on the bed, come over to me to pet him, and attacked. I'm new to siamese so I don't want to assume anything. Are they rough players? Is that the way they try to tell you something?

Maybe he was just playing. My cats have bit me tons of times where I should have gone to the doctor, I'm none the worse for it. Your cat is probably just trying to be friends
Reply:Geez! I hope youre okay!!!

My cat is part siamese and she isnt rough at all! She's very sweet and gentle and she never bites or claws me.

Is he neutered? Perhaps he's wanting to mate or fight because he hasnt been fixed.

Is he a kitten? Kittens LOVE to play rough because it helps them develop fighting strategies for later in life when they meet a real enemy.

Keep a squirt bottle handy and if he does it again, squirt his face, yell NO! and immediately put him in a pet porter or enclosed space such as a closet or laundry room for 10 min. This will teach him not to bite.

Good luck!
Reply:that's not normal. if he was playing he would bite u soft like a mitt mean he like u. i think your cat need help or take him back. it not normal for your to attack u.
Reply:he is reacting to his wild instincts.

he probably saw you laying there and smelled u as prey

so he bit u.

don worry

is natural

especially with lynx mix

remember, lynx is wild cat
Reply:No, that isn't "normal" behavior for a Siamese or any cat (though it does happen). I had a cat who bit me a few times, with no provocation, but she was bottle-raised and never learned from mom the right way to behave.

How long have you had him and how old is he? You may want to have him checked by a vet to see if there's anything physical that would cause the aggression.

Here's some more info. on cat aggression:

Definitely see a doctor for the bite, as you likely need antibiotics and a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in the past 10 years.

To another poster, lynx point is a coloring and has nothing to do with the wild lynx cat.
Reply:Did he bite you through the blanket? My cats do that all the time, they seem to think biting me through the blanket is a fun game. Though, some cats just get overstimulated and excitable when being stroked.

Here's a good article on it..

Probably a lot has to do with him being new to your home. I would restrict him from the bedroom for a couple weeks and let him chill out a bit. It could've been that his previous owner played rough with him and he will need to be trained not to do that anymore..

BTW, lynx I'm sure you know is just referring to the color, your cat is not mixed with a wild cat..
