Left side of face doesnt move?

My friend woke up the other day and the left side of his face is paralysed. He cant move his whole mouth when he smiles it looks like he's smirking. He cant blink his eye very well. Could this because of his wisdom teeth coming in or something else? He is going to the dr I'm just worried.

The only way to know for sure is to see a doctor, as soon as possible. This could be an urgent problem.

He could be having problems with his facial nerve. The facial nerve runs through both ears (middle ear) and each controls the muscles on one side of the face. If this nerve is pinched or inflamed, weakness or paralysis can occur.

I had ear surgery last year, and I woke up one morning and didn't understand why my right eye was watering badly. I was also unable to smile on one side of my face. Inflammation from the surgery was pressing on the nerve, since the facial nerve runs through the eardrum/middle ear, the site of my surgery. Today I am fine, and am fully healed from the surgery. During my research, I have learned that severe untreated ear infections can lead to this as well. There are other factors that can lead to problems with the facial nerve, so it is important to see a doctor right away. This can be very frightening, esp when it is of sudden onset. I wish him the best.
Reply:This is a sign of nerve damage. Whether it was done by his wisdom teeth or not, I don't know, but it needs to be taken care of ASAP to rule out a more serious condition such as stroke or multiple sclerosis.
Reply:aah! that's horrible! it must have something to do with the nerves. deff. make sure he sees a doctor.
Reply:Your friend might suffer from Bell's Palsy , which is an idiopathic condition and gets better most of the time byitself. Your friend needs prescriptions for prednisone and acyclovir from an MD. He also need s to excercise his face and use artificial eye drops.
Reply:Go to a docter fast.
Reply:id lay money its bell's palsy. he needs to see a doctor. its curable but dont waste time messing around with this.
Reply:He needs to see the doctor. it sounds like bell's palsy. Sometimes it just happens. With the help from a doctor he may improve over time. Have him ask the doctor about Botox injections. It helps with bell's palsy to regain some function. He needs to rub the area several times a day and seek medical care.
